Chamber Music Festival 2025 Concerts

Charles County Youth Orchestra’s Chamber Music Festival 2025 will host four, free, family-friendly concerts at Christ Church, La Plata on July 19, 20, 26, and 27 at 4 PM. CCYO Chamber Music faculty will perform on July 19 and 26, while students will showcase their talents on July 20 and 27. This series of summer concerts promises to showcase not only the remarkable growth of the festival’s participants, but also the vibrant sense of community fostered through music. Audiences can expect intimate performances in the historic sanctuary of Christ Church, where the acoustics and atmosphere perfectly complement the artistry on display. Each afternoon will highlight a different mix of chamber works, offering new surprises and musical delights for concertgoers of all ages. Whether you are a longtime supporter of CCYO or discovering the ensemble for the first time, the Chamber Music Festival concerts invite you to experience the inspiring talents of the next generation of musicians alongside the seasoned guidance of their directors. According to Dr. Osman Kivrak, Director of CCYO, “Participating in CCYO and chamber music helps students develop good working habits: teamwork, social and emotional skills, discipline and perseverance while having fun performing great works of composers from all around the world.” Auditions for CCYO’s next season will take place on September 13 from 9 AM to 2 PM at Christ Church, La Plata. All levels and instruments, except piano, are invited to audition. Audition requirements and sign-ups are available at https://www.charlescountyyouthorchestra.org/auditions CCYO includes four ensembles: Prelude Strings for beginning string players, Encore Strings and Encore Band for intermediate musicians, and The Charles County Youth Orchestra for advanced musicians. CCYO serves students from Prince Georges, St. Mary's, Calvert, and Anne Arundel counties, as well as Charles County. Recently, CCYO has been spotlighted in an online film by the Charles County Arts Alliance and has been featured on WTOP radio. Additionally, two CCYO String Quartets were finalists in the Washington Performing Arts Society Misbin Chamber Music Competition in Washington, D.C. The Charles County Youth Orchestra is sponsored in part by grants from the Charles County Charitable Trust, the Charles County Arts Alliance, the Maryland State Arts Council and donations from generous individuals.
